An Instrument for a Purpose Driven Comparison of Modelling Frameworks

چکیده
During the past decade a number of modelling frameworks for knowledge based systems have been developed. In this paper an approach to the comparison of modelling frameworks is proposed, based on the aims and purposes behind the frameworks. A purpose oriented comparison of the frameworks DESIRE, CommonKADS, PROTÉGÉ-II, MIKE, VITAL and KARL provides insight in their differences and similarities.

Relevance vector machine and multivariate adaptive regression spline for modelling ultimate capacity of pile foundation
This study examines the capability of the Relevance Vector Machine (RVM) and Multivariate Adaptive Regression Spline (MARS) for prediction of ultimate capacity of driven piles and drilled shafts. RVM is a sparse method for training generalized linear models, while MARS technique is basically an adaptive piece-wise regression approach. In this paper, pile capacity prediction models are developed...
متن کاملInternational Human Trafficking: Critical Appraisal of Strength and Weaknesses of Nigeria’s Legal Frameworks
Nigeria has been facing the immense challenge of international trafficking in persons for sexual exploitation and forced labor into countries in Europe, Asia and Africa. Being an international criminal activity driven by high profits, Nigeria's adoption of a regulatory policy is expressed in the series of legal provisions to deal with the army of traffickers. In desperation, within a space of 1...
متن کاملAxial and Torsional Free Vibrations of Elastic Nano-Beams by Stress-Driven Two-Phase Elasticity
Size-dependent longitudinal and torsional vibrations of nano-beams are examined by two-phase mixture integral elasticity. A new and efficient elastodynamic model is conceived by convexly combining the local phase with strain- and stress-driven purely nonlocal phases. The proposed stress-driven nonlocal integral mixture leads to well-posed structural problems for any value of the scale parameter...
متن کاملGenerative frameworks for rigorous model-driven development
Our increasing reliance on software systems requires reliable software. Mainstream software manufacture, however, is not rigorous and precise, and resulting software lacks the desired reliability. Formal methods take a rigorous and precise approach to software development, delivering reliable software, but they are widely recognised as being impractical. Although the situation is improving, the...
متن کاملOptimistic-parallel, Process-oriented Des in Java Using Bytecode Rewriting
Since the very early beginnings of parallel discrete event-driven simulation (PDES) research, numerous general-purpose PDES frameworks have been implemented. These frameworks can be roughly classified by the utilized modelling view (process-oriented vs. event-oriented), kind of parallelism (conservativeparallel, optimistic-parallel), and implementation language. Since the main motivation of par...
